3 Ways to Spring Clean Your Smile into a Stronger One

With spring coming into full swing, you might be excited about flowers blooming and the warmer weather. For many, this often also marks the time to deep clean homes and get rid of any clutter. You might be in the same mood yourself, but don’t forget to spare some of that motivation for your oral health! Here are three things you should do to help make your smile stronger this time of year.

1.)  Spruce Up Your Oral Hygiene Routine

It’s recommended that you get a new toothbrush every three to four months. The bristles lose their effectiveness over time, so they may not be removing plaque or bacteria as well as they are designed to. So, if you can’t remember the last time or are just getting over a sickness, then consider heading to your local department store to get one.

As you are looking in the aisle, consider also getting an electric toothbrush if you haven’t already. It also wouldn’t hurt to experiment with a new floss or toothpaste flavor. These might seem like simple changes, but they can help make your oral hygiene exciting once again.

2.)  Deep Clean Your Bathroom

Your bathroom might already be a place you were planning on cleaning, but one part of it you shouldn’t ignore is your toothbrush holder. Make sure that you scrub the inside and outside to remove any bacteria on it. If not, then they can transfer to your dental tools and cause problems for your smile.

3.)  Have an Early Visit with Your Dentist

While the two things above are great to do at home, don’t forget to schedule a visit with your dentist as well! They are trained to watch for oral health issues after all, so they will be able to spot any red flags and give you the treatment you need to prevent them from getting worse. You’ll also get advice on how you can better your dental routine; that way, you do a better job in between your next cleaning.

If you have dental insurance, then you will also be able to reach your deductible sooner. By reaching your benefits, you can start to enjoy them earlier in the year. So, your teeth and gums stay strong during the springtime and beyond.
